Announcing my Album

Journey of a Part Time Composer

I wanted to challenge myself to see what I can produce with the limited knowledge, equipment I have. The intention was to create Music in your back yard. As I mentioned that I composed my 1st song in 1994 which was for an inter college orchestra competition, and I did a fairly good job. Since then whenever I got some time I kept on composing songs, tunes, jingles etc. Not very frequently though, as I was still studying. Soon the songs started accumulating one by one, although very less in number. I used very primitive keyboards/recording equipment back then.

In 2012, I found an amazing tool (a software) which opened a whole new world of programming and sequencing music. I could use PC to create my music in a much more elaborate way. I was learning music and parallel was learning technology. This tool made me think that I could re-arrange all my previous songs and kind of re master them. I fetched all those audio cassettes, which had my old recordings from my college days and started to re-create that music using this new tool..

This tool gave me the flexibility that I was looking for, a non-linear way of creating patterns and putting it together to create a song. I was managing my 9 to 6 job/my family/ and other commitments on one side and on the other, would step by step build a song as an when I got an hour here or a few minutes there. That’s the reason it took me 4 years to re-master 15 of my best creations out of the whole bunch. There used to be absolutely no activity for months together due to work pressure or some family matters. But I was hell bent on the fact that I had to complete this project. Piece by piece (and I literally mean that) bit by bit I put this together and am really happy to present it to you.

At times you would feel that the sound/style is old school, in fact it is. Coz this album is a journey of my composing skills growing gradually from 1994 till 2016. I haven’t changed any arrangement just re-mastered and re-arranged it using better sound samples.

The very fact that I can create an above average music deliverable on a single laptop was a good enough kick to get my work started in 2012.
